Their design allows for easy cast and the arms (clipped to the sinkerduring casting) can beforced from their clips when you need to retrieve the rig.

The Breakaway sinker is exceptional at holding in strong cross currents on sandy bottoms, especially when an angler needs to rpesent a bait in the one location and wants no lateral movement.

A few quick jerks on the rod will release the arms, making it easy to recover the rig when the time comes to check baots or to reel in your catch.
